I’ve been converted - Part I

Ok, so I have a good excuse for not blogging in over a week. I finally received my iMac. I have to say coming from a PC world this is quite a new yet fun experience for me. There is just so much to learn and explore. So here’s a little bit about my MAC conversion.

As most of my friends know, once I’ve made up my mind about something, it is very hard to change it. I actually the idea about buying a MAC when I bought my iPod. The iPod jolted me back to remembering how easy everything in the Apple world is (too easy). I was finally able to put the thought of buying a MAC out of my head for about 2 weeks. I have no need for a MAC, my PC is only 2 years old and doesn’t need to be upgraded. However, those thoughts were just brief thoughts that came and went faster than a shooting star. My friends also know that I do not like to wait once I’ve made up my mind or ordered something through the mail. I am a very patient person except when it comes to things. I chose to order my iMac online. I like having control over my purchase and not having a salesmen tell me all the reasons I should by some other model.

So on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 9:00 PM I hit the Place Order button. An hour passed and started wondering why my iMac wasn’t here already (I told you I wasn’t patient). Unfortunately, when I placed the order I was not given a choice to choose priority shipping. As you can guess I was so excited when the iMac actually shipped. I was checking the Fed-Ex ship tracker about every hour to see what city my iMac was exploring on the way to it’s new home.

On Tuesday, June 28 I noticed that it said the iMac was on the truck for delivery. Could it be? Could my iMac actually be delivered today? Can I cancel my plans tonight to play with my iMac. My friends also know that I need validation and confirmation on a number of items. I printed out the tracking slip from Fed-Ex and took it ot my next meeting. I had everyone look at it and tell me if they thought it was also going to be delivered on that same day.

Driving home I thought how am I going to get the iMac up to my apartment by myself. It is probably going to be pretty heavy. Is it even going to be there? I started thinking of all the reasons why my iMac wouldn’t be there.

  • Front Office person was away when the Fed-Ex person arrived.
  • By some unlucky streak of events my iMac fell off the back of the Fed-Ex truck and is laying abandoned somewhere along side of the road.
  • The Fed-Ex tracker was probably wrong.
  • My address was probably incorrect and my iMac is out in the world somewhere all alone.
  • …and many others.

Point #4 Details

In response to Will’s (still can’t get used to that) comments in the previous post about point #4, here are the 3 boys. In reviewing them, I realized there is another one that I wouldn’t mind romping with err…dating.

PS: My iMAC has left San Jose and is now in Sacramento. I think I should meet the fed-ex driver half-way so that I can get it sooner. I received my iSight camera yesterday. I do not like waiting with a camera and no MAC to plug into.

The sweet outdoors

I know, I owe camping stories, but this week has been super crazy and I haven’t had time to sit down and collect myself. I promise, promise to write more detail later, but can sum up the trip in a few bullet points.

  • Centered and Calm Feeling
  • Absolutely want to do it again and again
  • Almost as much fun as the beach
  • Secretly in love with two (ok three) of our group members
  • Placing your tent up against the uncut weeds, makes good pollen and stuffy nose
  • 5 Mile hike? What? Are you crazy? Boy that was fun!

I had a great time. We had 12 people going, some I knew very well and some that I got to know even better.

On another note, did I mention I bought an iMAC? It’s being prepared for shipping now and am anxiously awaiting to see what all the rave is about. I might even give up my PC. We’ll see.

Cirque du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil

Ok, I just back from seeing Cirque du Soleil - Varekai or should I say experiencing. This was my only my 2nd Cirque du Soleil and yet was awed and amazed at the extreme talent that the cast has. Of course , my favorite was the Aieral Straps with the twin brothers Castor and Pollux. Hot! Hot! Hot!

I am really amazed at all the creativity that goes into the show and how well everything is integrated into one experience. There are colors, themes, shapes, sound, movement, and extreme talent. I admire the hard-work that these people put in every day to entertain us.

I’m baking cookies now and packing for the camping trip and then it is off to bed.
