I’ve been converted - Part I
Ok, so I have a good excuse for not blogging in over a week. I finally received my iMac. I have to say coming from a PC world this is quite a new yet fun experience for me. There is just so much to learn and explore. So here’s a little bit about my MAC conversion.
As most of my friends know, once I’ve made up my mind about something, it is very hard to change it. I actually the idea about buying a MAC when I bought my iPod. The iPod jolted me back to remembering how easy everything in the Apple world is (too easy). I was finally able to put the thought of buying a MAC out of my head for about 2 weeks. I have no need for a MAC, my PC is only 2 years old and doesn’t need to be upgraded. However, those thoughts were just brief thoughts that came and went faster than a shooting star. My friends also know that I do not like to wait once I’ve made up my mind or ordered something through the mail. I am a very patient person except when it comes to things. I chose to order my iMac online. I like having control over my purchase and not having a salesmen tell me all the reasons I should by some other model.
So on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 9:00 PM I hit the Place Order button. An hour passed and started wondering why my iMac wasn’t here already (I told you I wasn’t patient). Unfortunately, when I placed the order I was not given a choice to choose priority shipping. As you can guess I was so excited when the iMac actually shipped. I was checking the Fed-Ex ship tracker about every hour to see what city my iMac was exploring on the way to it’s new home.
On Tuesday, June 28 I noticed that it said the iMac was on the truck for delivery. Could it be? Could my iMac actually be delivered today? Can I cancel my plans tonight to play with my iMac. My friends also know that I need validation and confirmation on a number of items. I printed out the tracking slip from Fed-Ex and took it ot my next meeting. I had everyone look at it and tell me if they thought it was also going to be delivered on that same day.
Driving home I thought how am I going to get the iMac up to my apartment by myself. It is probably going to be pretty heavy. Is it even going to be there? I started thinking of all the reasons why my iMac wouldn’t be there.
- Front Office person was away when the Fed-Ex person arrived.
- By some unlucky streak of events my iMac fell off the back of the Fed-Ex truck and is laying abandoned somewhere along side of the road.
- The Fed-Ex tracker was probably wrong.
- My address was probably incorrect and my iMac is out in the world somewhere all alone.
- …and many others.
