California, Here I Come

Well, looks like my trip to San Francisco/Santa Cruz took a different direction then what I imagined. I’ll give you more details later, but wanted to let you know what was going on. It looks like I will be joining Quiddities Dev., Inc full-time as employee #3. We were in an all day meeting in Santa Cruz with a client and in the middle of the meeting it hit me. This is what I love to do, building web systems. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in and like the work I am doing for the non-profit, but I don’t love it. Finance & Administration is not exactly what I had in mind.

That was the turning part. I’m just waiting to work out the finer details and for the contract to be signed. Then it looks like I will be the lead architecht/programmer on this contract. It’s going to be tough because it means I will be working from home again 5 days a week. Not that I don’t mind the flexibility, but it can get pretty lonely sometimes. I think I know the pitfalls to watch out for this time. Of course, that means I need to buy an iBook so that I can work remotely from a coffee shop, Borders, or some other wi-fi spot. Do I get the 12″ or the 14″?

I am really excited about this opportunity. This is only the beginning, we hope to have 20 - 30 employee’s but the year 2010. I wonder what 4 years of future technology holds for us?

The overall trip was awesome and it was great to see Bill & Adrian. I really enjoyed his lecture (and not just looking at the cute guys in the class, although that was an added incentive). You can read about Bill & Adrian’s SF adventures here.
